OverviewForm of SupplyCorrosion ResistanceRelated Specs & Trade NamesGrade 321 stainless steel (1.4541) is a heat resistant grade supplied into numerous industry sectors. The key property of this grade is the added titanium content (5 x C%) stabilising the material and making its resistance to carbide precipitation when exposed to high temperatures and resistance to oxidation its main characteristics. Whilst retaining good strength and corrosion resistance when exposed to high temperatures, this grade of stainless steel like most austenitic grades will also maintain its strength an321 Stainless Steel Chromium Nickel Alloy High TemperatureIf you are looking for a stainless steel to provide resistance to intergranular corrosion, 304L is the normal choice as it is a more commonly used and supplied steel. However, 321 is a much better option in operating temperature environments in excess of 500° C and therefore has its own merits.
321 Stainless Steel AK SteelTYPE 321is a stabilized austenitic stainless steel similar to Type 304 but with a titanium addition of at least five times the carbon content. This titanium addition reduces or prevents carbide precipitation during welding and in 800 1500 °F (427 816 °C) service. It also improves the elevated temperature properties of the alloy.
321 SS (UNS S32100) is a titanium stabilized austenitic stainless steel that features improved resistance to intergranular corrosion. This grade is suitable for high temperature applications up to 1500°F (815°C), where the addition of titanium stabilizes the material against chromium carbide formation.
Alloy 321 - Premium Stainless Steel GradesAbout Alloy 321. Alloy 321 stainless is a titanium stabilized grade commonly used for service in the 538-870°C temperature range. For service temperatures up to about 870°C, a stabilizing treatment at 842-899°C air cool, may be used to provide optimum resistance to intergranular corrosion in the heat affected zone (HAZ), and to polythionic acid stress corrosion cracking.
Encl. 5-EPRI Presentation - Fatigue Limit of Stainless 304, 316, 321 and 347 stainless steel. Room temperature fatigue strength is approximately 22 kg/mm2 or 31.2 ksi. There is some reduction in the fatigue strength at higher temperatures. The general thumb rule is that the fatigue strength is 0.4-0.5 times the ultimate strength of the material
Stainless steel have good strength and good resistance to corrosion and oxidation at elevated temperatures. Stainless steel are used at temperatures up to 1700° F for 304 and 316 and up to 2000 F for the high temperature stainless grade 309(S) and up to 2100° F for 310(S). Stainless steel is used extensively in heat exchanger, super-heaters, boiler, feed water heaters, valves and main steam

SS321 AISI 321 Stainless Steel Properties, TP321 321H Apr 25, 2020 · AISI 321 stainless steel (SS321) is basically type 304 with the addition of titanium (Ti), which stabilizes carbides against sensitization to prevent intergranular precipitation of chromium carbide when the steel is heated to a temperature within the sensitization range (such as during welding). 321H is to obtain the best creep strength and creep rupture strength.
